We spent yesterday (Feb 27) traveling through the Thar desert to the town of Bikaner, famed for its beautiful Junagarth Fort.

The grandeur of its palaces, the collection of antiques, and the astounding Mughal miniature paintings are among the best in Rajasthan. The town was founded in 1488 by Rao Biaji as a staging post on the great caravan routes linking Central Asia and North India. These Kings were RICH and evidence of the lavishness of the lives they lived was everywhere around us. Most of the structures were built of red sandstone that was easily carved, and that meant every square inch of available space.

After touring the Fort, we visited a camel breeding facility and then to a campsite dinner Rajasthani-style.  Another exciting adventure…
